The shaft or transmission shaft is the component that transfers rotational motion from the motor to the cutting, grinding or processing accessories. It is a wear part: over time, the pins wear out, deform or break, causing loss of torque, unusual noises or complete blockage of the accessory. How to choose the correct spare part

Exact brand and model: many shafts are specific to a single series; even models from the same line (e.g. Kenwood Chef vs Kenwood Major) may have pins with different dimensions.

Original code: if visible on the worn component or in the manual, it is the most reliable way to find the compatible spare part.

Common problems and solutions
Accessory spinning freely
The transmission pin or joint is broken or worn; the motor runs but motion is not transferred to the accessory. Replace the pin or joint.
Squeaking or metallic noises
Wear of the contact surfaces between the shaft and seat; increased play causes repeated impacts. Address this before the damage extends to the gearbox.
Accessory detaching during use
Deformed shaft or widened accessory seat due to wear; the profile of the shaft no longer holds the lock. Check both components.
Unusual vibration of the food processor
Bent or unbalanced shaft after overload; even a small radial play generates significant vibrations at high speed.

How do I know if the shaft or gearbox is broken?
If the motor starts (you can hear it running) but the accessory does not move, the problem is almost certainly in the shaft or transmission joint. If the motor does not start at all, or starts with difficulty and then stops, the fault is more likely in the gearbox or electrical circuit.
Is the Kenwood Chef pin compatible with the Major model?
Not always: Chef and Major share some accessories, but the transmission pins of the food processor attachments (AT647, KAH65) may differ in length and profile. Always check the specific code indicated in the product sheet before purchasing.
Can I replace just the pin or do I need to change the complete shaft?
It depends on the type of breakage: if the pin has broken or worn but the seat is intact, replacing just the pin is sufficient and more economical. If the shaft is bent, scratched or has worn grooves, it is necessary to replace the complete component.
