On brushed tools, brushes are consumables; on brushless, contacts wear less but the trigger may fail. If there is strong sparking or it jerks, check brushes and wiring: they are inexpensive and should be replaced in pairs.
18 V vs 20 V MAX (DeWALT) batteries and adapters
For DeWALT, 18 V (EU) and 20 V MAX (US) indicate the same cell architecture. There are adapters, but use only chargers from the correct platform and do not mix brands without verification.
